Dental Profession Takes CDMA Graduate Around the World and Back Again to the American West

The dental profession is amazing! It's so cool to see how many of my colleagues have been able to travel the globe and experience so much of what the world has to offer.

I've been super-lucky to be a part of Elevation Association, which focuses on not only developing dental practices, but the actual dentist as well. Because of that focus, EA has taken me from the jungles of Belize to surfing in Panama and hiking in El Salvador and the mountains of Idaho for some incredible continuing education adventures!

I've also been blessed to be a founding member of the Dental Legacy Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to providing care and building dental clinics in severely underserved communities in Tanzania, Africa. There along with other MWU alumni, the Foundation has  helped build two clinics and a badly needed water tower. We have also performed thousands of dental procedures and made life-long relationships with the beautiful people there. As Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing at all."

About Dan Nelson, D.M.D.

Dan Nelson, D.M.D., is a 2012 College of Dental Medicine-Arizona (CDMA) alumnus. Although his service in the military and his church has taken him and his family around the world, Dr. Nelson feels most at home in the Mountain West. Born in Denver and raised in the Salt Lake Valley, "Dr. Dan" has his roots deep in the Rockies. He and his wife, Linsey, met and married while attending Utah Valley University, and are alumni of both UVU and the University of Utah. Following graduation from the U of U, Dr. Nelson earned his Doctorate of Medicine in Dentistry as part of the inaugural class of MWU-CDMA. He then went on to complete an Advanced Education Residency in General Dentistry with the United States Air Force in Omaha, Nebraska. Dr. Nelson, Linsey, and their three children are delighted to make their home in the Wood River Valley in Idaho and to be a part of the Wood River Dental team.
