Tara Nomura
Arizona College of Optometry, Class of 2024
Growing up, I always had an interest in science courses, but I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with that. My optometrist suggested that I consider optometry as a career. I did some research and took a biopsychology course, where I learned more about the visual system. It was fascinating!

Brant Sanderfoot
College of Health Sciences Occupational Therapy Program, Class of 2024
I was inspired to pursue a career in the health field because I believe it is a rewarding and fulfilling area of work. Serving and caring for others has always been a passion of mine and I wanted to use my passions in my future career as an Occupational Therapist.

Diversity Equity & Inclusion
At Midwestern University, diversity, equity, and inclusion are central to our academic life, campus community, and clinical practice. We value and celebrate the diverse backgrounds of each of our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and patients. We strongly believe that a diverse and welcoming campus leads to innovation, creativity, collaboration, and understanding - values that are foundation aspects of healthcare education and patient care delivery. Diversity enriches the educational and employment experience for everyone and is a necessary part of excellence. We embrace open access to education and opportunity for everyone, and we are unequivocal in our support of underrepresented and historically marginalized groups. We also recognize that there is more work to be done. To ensure these ideals are upheld, we have established the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and have committed additional resources to further develop a fully inclusive community.
