Message from the Dean
Welcome message from Thomas A. Boyle, Dean, Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine
Dear Future Osteopathic Physicians and Medical Leaders,
It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM). Founded in 1900, CCOM offers osteopathic medical students a rich history of accomplishment and excellence, set in and around the city of Chicago. As one of the founding schools of osteopathic medicine and the founding college for Midwestern University, its 7,500+ alumni can attest to the quality of medical education that our students receive here which is followed by future career success.
As the fourth oldest active medical school in Illinois, CCOM is well known in the local and national healthcare communities as a medical school that graduates excellent osteopathic physicians who are well-prepared for the next step in their medical education as highly skilled resident physicians. Choosing CCOM means a high probability of success while excelling on your medical licensing boards and successfully matching into residency training. With thanks to our exceptional and student-centered faculty, our strong basic science education and clinical training will capture your interest and allow you to grow as a medical student while you learn the art and science of medicine and medical practice.
Whether your goal is primary care or specialty practice; urban, suburban, or rural locations; academic group, or private practice; hospital-based or office-based; our network of excellent hospital and physician partners will introduce you to this exciting world of osteopathic medicine as it is known in all these types of practice settings.
We are in a time of great need in healthcare in the United States. There is a shortage of physicians nationally. Be part of the solution. If you want to do something that matters, something that makes a difference in the lives of so many people, join us here at CCOM to help those people so much in need of what osteopathic physicians can offer to them! Together, we can be a force for positive change in the lives of our patients.
Sincerely,
Thomas A. Boyle, D.O., M.B.A., FACEP, FACOEP, FAAOE
