Samantha Elaine Day, Ph.D.
Dr. Day received her Ph.D. in Biology from Arizona State University, working on a collaborative project with the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ, where she investigated alterations in DNA methylation with obesity and its underlying insulin resistance. Dr. Day then trained as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) in Phoenix, AZ, where she broadened her understanding of the genetic basis of type 2 diabetes and related complications. She joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at Midwestern University in 2022, where she is teaching biochemistry, metabolism, and nutrition topics for different programs. In addition, Dr. Day's laboratory expands her research on campus utilizing biochemical, genetic, and epigenetic techniques to detect and characterize altered DNA methylation sites from human blood to better understand disease progression for type 2 diabetes and related complications.
