Social Injustice Event Shows Speech-Language Pathology Students Mindful Healthcare Practices
Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) students and faculty gathered on the Downers Grove Campus for an event to discuss scenarios of social injustice in SLP, and the best course of action to take when they occur. This discussion also prepared students to handle unexpected situations in their future careers. CCOM Students Focus on Professional Development
Students from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) are working to develop programs to enhance their networking and professional skills. The Student Osteopathic Medical Association’s (SOMA) Professional Development Committee on the Downers Grove Campus are offering a variety of virtual events to encourage first- and second-year medical students to develop in areas that extend beyond academia.

Pickleball Tournament Raised Money and Awareness for Breast Cancer
Midwestern University students in the Endodontics & Periodontal Club CDMI (College of Dental Medicine-Illinois) and the CDMI Wilderness Club hosted the inaugural Halloween-themed Pickle-O-Treat pickleball tournament. Proceeds went to The Pink Agenda, a nonprofit organization that promotes awareness about breast cancer and raises funds for research and healthcare.

Downers Grove Mayor Honors American Pharmacists Month, Midwestern University College of Pharmacy
Members of the Midwestern University community attended the reading of the proclamation of American Pharmacists Month by Downers Grove Mayor Robert Barnett during the Downers Grove Village Council meeting on October 17, 2023. Pharmacy student Kourtney McKinnon (CPDG ’24) was present along with former executive board members, clinic leaders, and Robert Chapman, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove and American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) Co-advisor.

Midwestern University’s Middle Eastern Pharmacists Association Marks 10 Years of Service to Community
Since its establishment in 2013, the Middle Eastern Pharmacists Association (MePA) on the Downers Grove Campus of Midwestern University has made a significant impact on the community. More than 400 students have volunteered their services, conducting free community health screenings and organizing educational events, benefiting nearly 1,200 patients. Sally Arif, Pharm.D., BCPS, Professor, Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove, serves as the founding advisor for MePA.
