Dry Eye and Cataract Research Study

Volunteers needed for research study on dry eye and cataract surgery.

Summary of Study

Do you have dry eyes and have been diagnosed with cataracts? Are you interested in getting your cataracts removed? You may be eligible for a 4-visit study that could provide dry eye treatment at no cost.

You may qualify if you:

  • Are 18 years or older
  • Have been diagnosed with surgery-eligible cataracts in both eyes
  • Have been diagnosed with dry eye or have symptoms of dry eye
  • Have no other significant eye or general health problems that could affect the eye

Participation involves:

  • Dry eye treatment before or after cataract surgery
  • Four exam visits at the Midwestern University Eye Institute
  • Cataract surgery that can be performed with your own ophthalmologist or with the board-certified ophthalmologist at Midwestern University (cataract surgery costs are not covered by the study)

Additional information

  • Participating in this study may improve your dry eye signs and/or symptoms.
  • Participants will be compensated
  • Dry eye therapy is provided at no-cost
