Literacy for Life

High school students and adults with intellectual or development disabilities will focus on improving reading and writing. Sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Summer 2024 Registration

The Literacy for Life program is currently enrolling high school students and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities, such as Down syndrome or autism. In a group setting, participants will focus on improving their reading and writing abilities to support their transition from school to the workforce.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Health literacy
  • Financial literacy
  • Fluency in the use of technology
  • Community-based literacy activities, such as ordering from menus and completing job applications
  • Reading and writing for pleasure

Program Runs: Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. from June 10th – August 4th.

Cost: $25 per session.

Application Details: To be considered for the program, complete and submit the required application by April 2, 2024. Application deadline has been extended to April 30. Complete details for this program along with insurance information are included with the application.
