This interprofessional event will incorporate a variety of student healthcare professionals from the University, including but not limited to: dental, podiatry, nurse anesthesiology, physician assistant, and speech language pathology.

Our goal is to host an event to include the following:

  • Interactive Workshops: Engaging sessions tailored to the unique needs and interests of children with special needs, focusing on sensory activities, creative expression, and skillbuilding.
     
  • Health Screenings: Students and faculty will provide health screening for special needs patients to evaluate various health aspects to accommodate the specific needs, challenges, and conditions of the individual.
     
  • Adaptive Sports Demonstrations: Introduce adaptive sports and games that promote physical activity and teamwork led by student healthcare professionals and staff.
     
  • Resource Fair: Connect with the University’s programs and learn about support services offering information and resources for families of children with special needs.
     
  • Sensory-friendly Environment: Foster a safe and accommodating setting with sensory-friendly spaces designed to ensure comfort for all attendees (suggestion: art and music therapy, sensory bins)


Additional Information:

This event will be free to attend, but pre-registration is required to accommodate all participants (registration link is coming soon).

The event will be wheelchair accessible, and accommodations will be provided upon request (advance notice for specific needs is suggested!)
