Beginning with the class matriculating in summer quarter 2027, the Midwestern University (MWU) Physician Assistant (PA) Program in Glendale, AZ agrees to guarantee an interview for one qualified Grand Canyon University (GCU) applicant per admission year.
Requirements for Physician Assistant Studies, Glendale Campus
GCU students applying for admission to the PA Program in Glendale, AZ must satisfy the following minimum requirements before the academic year commences for the incoming class:
- Achieve a minimum of a 3.60 cumulative grade point average (GPA) and a minimum of 3.70 cumulative science GPA (on a 4.00 = A scale) in their undergraduate coursework;
- Have received (or be on track to complete and provide proof of completion by the first day of first quarter of the calendar year when matriculation would occur if accepted) a baccalaureate degree from GCU;
- Have completed the minimum number of the prerequisite courses (as stated in the Midwestern University Catalog) in the prescribed subject areas at a regionally accredited college or university with a grade of C or better before the program begins;
- Oral and written communication skills necessary to interact with patients and colleagues;
- Motivation for and commitment to healthcare as demonstrated by previous work, volunteer work, or other life experiences;
- Demonstrate of service and leadership through community service or extracurricular activities;
- Abide by the Midwestern University Drug-Free Workplace and Substance Abuse Policy;
- Pass MWU criminal background check;
- Completion of all required immunizations prior to matriculation; and
- Meet all other admission requirements set forth by MWU.
The final decision on acceptance for applicants shall be up to the discretion of the PA Program Admissions Committee, subject to approval by both the Program Director and the Dean.
To be considered for admission to the PA Program, applicants:
- Must complete an online application to Centralized Application Service for Physician Assistants (CAPSA) by October 1. Refer to the CASPA application instructions for specific details about completing the application, the required documents and processing time.
Although we anticipate a long and mutually satisfying relationship between our two educational institutions, this Agreement may be terminated for any reason provided that written notice is given three (3) months prior to such termination, that such termination not impact Applicants in the then-current application cycle, and that those Applicants who have been accepted under this Agreement be permitted to complete their course of study. This Agreement does not guarantee or promise any Applicant acceptance or admission to any program at MWU, including but not limited to, the PA Program. This Agreement is for the benefit of MWU and GCU only and is not for the benefit of, nor may any provision be enforced by, any other person or entity, including any Applicant or student. The PA Program will work with GCU's Office of Communications and Marketing (or its equivalent) to create marketing literature supporting the collaboration discussed in this Agreement. Each party will obtain written authorization from the other party prior to use of the other party's or any of its affiliate's name for any purpose. GCU will provide drafts of all promotional materials to the PA Program for review and approval prior to use or publication. This Agreement is not to be deemed exclusive, and either party shall be free to enter into similar agreements with third parties.
