  • Faculty at Midwestern University Contribute to Cancer Research

    According to the American Cancer Society, approximately 1.9 million new cancer cases will be diagnosed and there will be an estimated 609,360 cancer deaths this year in the United States. In light of these statistics, the National Cancer Moonshot Initiative has recently gained new interest and new goals are being set to cut or reduce the death rate from cancer by at least 50 percent over the next 25 years and to improve the lives of people impacted by cancer. As a University committed to providing healthcare education and excellent care to the community, Midwestern University values the contributions our faculty and students make to the advancement of scientific knowledge through clinical research.

    Students from the College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove celebrated the beginning of their professional careers with a commencement ceremony on Thursday, March 3, 2022. A total of 126 students received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and will begin their professional pharmacy careers or participate in postgraduate residency programs.

  • Arizona Regional Brain Bee Returns In-Person at Midwestern University

    On Wednesday, March 2nd, Midwestern University welcomed 28 of the state’s top high school students for the 23rd Annual Arizona Regional Brain Bee, an educational competition similar to a spelling bee that focuses on neuroscience. The 2022 Arizona Regional Brain Bee at Midwestern University was presented in partnership with the BHHS Legacy Foundation.

  • Midwestern University Offers Training Opportunity to Local Fire Departments

    February 28, 2022

    Midwestern University partnered with the Downers Grove Fire Department to offer a variety of training opportunities to local fire crews and police units in an unoccupied building on the Downers Grove Campus scheduled for demolition. The Downers Grove and Lombard fire crews held training exercises in the three-story, 30,000 square-foot Haspel Hambrick Hall to practice large area searches, rescue operations, lost or separated firefighter protocols, roof ventilation on a commercial building, and other drills.

  • Black History Month Features Shoebox Meals, Education, Encouragement

    In celebration of Black History Month, Midwestern University’s Diversity Support Services on both campuses offered information, a community service program, and samples of a Shoebox Meal. Students, faculty, and staff had the opportunity to learn more about the history and significance of the meals that were essential during the Jim Crow-era.
