Students at Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine (AZCPM) will be eligible for new scholarship monies thanks to a newly-established grant agreement between the University and the Bako Medical Education Foundation, Inc. (BMEF).

The Bako Medical Education Foundation Scholarships have been established to support and enhance medical opportunities in the field of podiatric medicine and dermatology. The grant agreement between BMEF and Midwestern University establishes an endowment of up to $100,000 – $25,000 per year over four years, subject to certain conditions – that will fund these scholarships for outstanding AZCPM students. The agreement continues a strong relationship between Midwestern and BMEF and its sponsor BakoDx, whose podiatric experts routinely visit the University to teach biopsies and other procedures, as well as demonstrate lab procedures for students.

“BMEF is pleased to provide this grant to Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine,” said Steven J. Berlin, D.P.M., FACFAS, a board member and Grants Committee chair of the Bako Medical Education Foundation. “AZCPM is an important institution for training our future clinicians. We are honored to play a small role to further this important educational endeavor.”

"All of us at the Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine want to thank the BMEF and their continuing support of podiatric medical education,” said Jeffrey L. Jensen, D.P.M., FACFAS, Dean, Arizona College of Podiatric Medicine. “Their generosity and the scholarship opportunities made available to our AZCPM students will provide an important contribution to the training of tomorrow's podiatric healthcare team."
