Clara Hofman (CCOM 2021)

Clara Hofman, a second-year student at Midwestern University's Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine (CCOM) has been elected as the Region IV Trustee for the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA). Region IV is comprised of 10 chapters from the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

As a trustee, Ms. Hofman will be responsible for helping chapter leaders carry out SOMA's mission on their campuses. "I will also be working with the rest of the Board of Trustees and National Board of Directors to provide great opportunities for members across the country in areas such as research, health disparities education, political advocacy, and professional development," Ms. Hofman said. "I am looking forward to partnering with SOMA leaders to give members opportunities that will grow them as future physicians, to give osteopathic medical students a voice, and to strengthen the osteopathic medical student community."

SOMA is a national, not-for-profit organization founded to ensure a high quality of education for osteopathic medical students, to promote unity within the osteopathic medical profession, and to improve the delivery of healthcare. SOMA is the student affiliate organization of the American Osteopathic Association and works with all chapters to foster communication between government at the local and national levels and the osteopathic medical profession.
