Dr. Kimberly Bryze has worked as an occupational therapy educator for 29 years and has been the Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois since 2004. Dr. Bryze received a Baccalaureate degree in Special Education from Bradley University and taught children with cognitive, and behavioral disorders for five years before turning to a second career in occupational therapy. She earned Baccalaureate and Master degrees in Occupational Therapy and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. In her occupational therapy practice, Dr. Bryze has worked with children and adults with developmental, learning, and behavioral disabilities in early intervention, school, and community settings. She has taught both nationally and internationally various courses on collaborative consultation and sensory integration theory and practice. In the role of Professor she mentors students in their research and capstone projects, provides guest lectures, and teaches a seminar course focused on intellectual disability. Her research interests include faith experiences of adults with intellectual disability and interventions centered on adaptive occupation for participation in activities of daily living. She is the editor of a textbook entitled Occupational therapy for adults with intellectual disability (2020) published by Slack Incorporated.
