MWU Kids Day Offers Children a Glimpse into the Midwestern University Experience
Midwestern University welcomed 107 children to its 21st annual MWU Kids Day, held at the Downers Grove Campus. The event encourages Midwestern University employees to bring the children in their lives to campus. As part of the event, the children experienced a few informative sessions, learned more about Midwestern University, and had the afternoon to spend time with their parent, relative, or guardian at their workplace to glimpse their professional lives. The children also had the opportunity to meet the colleagues of the adults in their lives and tour the campus.

Midwestern University Dental Students Awarded Prestigious Scholarship
The Illinois State Dental Society Foundation (ISDS) awarded scholarships to two Midwestern University students. The scholarship committee selected a total of six students from several Illinois dental schools from 45 applicants. Representing a third of the scholarship winners are Midwestern University’s College of Dental Medicine – Illinois (CDMI) students Julia Brainard (CDMI ’24) and Aldona Puchalski (CDMI ’24).

Preschool Language Programs Benefit Community
As part of its service to the community, Midwestern University’s Speech-Language Institute offers biweekly programs for children experiencing issues with developmental language, such as delays with speech and articulation. The Little Sprouts program is offered to children between the ages of two and three, and the Shining Stars program is offered to children between the ages of three and five. Six Midwestern University students in the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Program are involved in the programs. Each student is assigned two children to target specific speech and language goals, and the students are supervised by Cindy Krizizke, M.S., CCC-SLP, Clinical Assistant Professor, Speech-Language Pathology.

Midwestern University’s Middle Eastern Pharmacists Association Marks 10 Years of Service to Community
Since its establishment in 2013, the Middle Eastern Pharmacists Association (MePA) on the Downers Grove Campus of Midwestern University has made a significant impact on the community. More than 400 students have volunteered their services, conducting free community health screenings and organizing educational events, benefiting nearly 1,200 patients. Sally Arif, Pharm.D., BCPS, Professor, Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, Downers Grove, serves as the founding advisor for MePA.
