Janey Prodoehl, PT, Ph.D.

Dr. Prodoehl has over 30 years of experience as a physical therapist primarily in out-patient orthopedics and is a Certified Cervical & Temporomandibular Therapist by the Physical Therapy Board of Craniofacial & Cervical Therapeutics (ptbcct.org).   She provides physical therapy services at the Physical Therapy Institute located within the Midwestern University Multispecialty Clinic in Downers Grove, IL. Her clinical practice, teaching and research interests focus on understanding and treating problems associated with orofacial pain, neck pain and headache using an evidence based approach

Kimberly Bryze, Ph.D., OTR/L

Dr. Kimberly Bryze has worked as an occupational therapy educator for 29 years and has been the Program Director of the Occupational Therapy Program at Midwestern University in Downers Grove, Illinois since 2004. Dr. Bryze received a Baccalaureate degree in Special Education from Bradley University and taught children with cognitive, and behavioral disorders for five years before turning to a second career in occupational therapy. She earned Baccalaureate and Master degrees in Occupational Therapy and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Special Education from the University of Illinois

Maura Porta, Ph.D.

Dr. Porta received her Laurea Degree (equivalent to the combination of B.A. and M.A degrees) in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology from the University of Genova (Genova, Italy) in 2000, and her Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Physiology from Loyola University Chicago in 2006.  Dr Porta completed postdoctoral training in the Department of Physiology at Midwestern University Downers Grove in 2009 and, in the same year, began her career in the Department of Physiology in the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at the rank of Instructor. She was promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor

Kolla Kristjansdottir, Ph.D.

Dr. Kristjansdottir received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in 2005. She completed her Postdoctoral Fellowship at the The University of Chicago in 2011 and continued there as a Research Associate until 2012 studying alterations in phosphoproteomic signaling in several systems including the yeast cell cycle, tamoxifen resistance in breast cancer and the pediatric cancer, neuroblastoma . She joined Midwestern University in Downers Grove, IL in 2012 as an Assistant Professor in the Biomedical Sciences Program. She was promoted to Associate Professor

Midwestern University Offers Training Opportunity to Local Fire Departments

Midwestern University partnered with the Downers Grove Fire Department to offer a variety of training opportunities to local fire crews and police units in an unoccupied building on the Downers Grove Campus scheduled for demolition. The Downers Grove and Lombard fire crews held training exercises in the three-story, 30,000 square-foot Haspel Hambrick Hall to practice large area searches, rescue operations, lost or separated firefighter protocols, roof ventilation on a commercial building, and other drills.

Midwestern University Graduates Ready for Successful Healthcare Careers

Midwestern University celebrated the graduations of master’s and doctoral degree recipients who are beginning their professional careers in healthcare at several ceremonies during the months of May and June on the Downers Grove, IL, and Glendale, AZ campuses. Nearly 1,600 graduates participated in one of 13 commencement ceremonies, including the first graduating class from the College of Graduate Studies’ dual-degree Master of Public Health Program.
