The Office of Student Financial Services is dedicated to helping you, our graduates, manage your student debt levels. We are providing a number of valuable resources in line with your individual goals and circumstances to help you successfully manage your student loans. The more you know about loan repayment, the easier it is for you to avoid pitfalls in the loan repayment process.
To make your payments more affordable, repayment plans can give you more time to repay your loans and/or they can also be based on your income. Get all the loan repayment information you need in a student-friendly format to help you understand and manage the repayment of your federal student loans and your institutional loans. You can also get an overview of all of the Repayment Plans that are available today, review comparisons, and have access to an array of online repayment calculators.
MWU takes pride in assisting its students as they prepare to leave our institution whether it is due to graduation, withdrawal, or transfer to another institution. We emphasize the importance for you to make arrangements to repay your student loans. Repaying your student loan(s) establishes your financial independence and credit history. Since institutional student loan programs are revolving loan funds, repaying your loans will highly benefit future students in need of additional funding.

What is Forbearance?
Forbearance is a temporary postponement of your payments during which interest accrues.
The interest that accrues during forbearance can be paid on a monthly basis or at the end of the forbearance. We highly recommend you pay the accrued interest on a monthly basis to avoid having to pay a large lump sum at the end of the forbearance.
Forbearance may be granted when you are experiencing financial hardship, poor health, or other acceptable reasons. You may alternatively request an extension of time allowed for making payments or the acceptance of smaller payments than were previously scheduled.
What is Deferment?
A deferment is a temporary postponement of your payments in which interest will not accrue.
For the MWU Loan Program, interest will continue to accrue.
Deferments are granted for specific situations, such as enrollment in school, unemployment, or economic hardship.
