The Eye Associates of New Mexico entered into a Collaborative Residency Training Agreement with Midwestern University Arizona College of Optometry in July of 2015, and formally began a residency program in Primary Care and Ocular Disease in August of 2016, when their first resident entered the Program.

Eye Associates of New Mexico was founded in 1976 and has evolved into one of the largest comprehensive eye care practices in the United States. Over Fifty Ophthalmologists and Optometrists provide a full range of services, from LASIK and cataract surgery, to healthy eye examinations and the management of complex eye disease in 15 clinic locations statewide. For over 35 years, Eye Associates of New Mexico has been committed to preserving and improving eyesight in New Mexico and the Southwest, striving to help improve patients' vision using some of the most innovative technology such as custom laser vision correction and no-stitch cataract surgery using premium intraocular lenses.

The AZCOPT-Affiliated Primary Care & Ocular Disease Residency Program at Eye Associates of New Mexico is designed to provide an advanced educational experience focused on primary eye care and ocular disease management in a private practice setting working closely with ophthalmology. Each resident will graduate from this program with a deep understanding of full-scope patient care with the knowledge and skills to care for the current change in demographics of our nation. This program will provide a solid foundation for providing medical eye care that includes retinal conditions, glaucoma, and anterior segment disease. Emphasis will be placed on the use of current technology to care for macular degeneration, diabetes, glaucoma, and cataracts.

Duration of Agreement: August 1 - July 31 
Number of Positions: One (1) position available each year. 
Annual Salary: $45,000*
