In July 2010, a new internal medicine residency program opened at Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC.)  VVMC is a member of Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH), which is the largest health care network in the region.  Flagstaff Medical Center and the Heart & Vascular Center of Northern Arizona are also affiliates of NAH.

Located in beautiful Cottonwood, AZ, the Verde Valley Medical Center (VVMC) is a full-service 99 bed nonprofit hospital serving North Central Arizona.  VVMC has outpatient campuses located in Sedona, Camp Verde, and the Village of Oak Creek.  VVMC is strongly supported by a diverse community, with a voluntary Board of Directors composed of local citizens, physicians, and NAH senior management.  The Board is committed to customer-focused quality health care though excellence in practice, service and leadership.

The administration and medical staff are dedicated to education and quality patient care in the establishment of an internal medicine residency training program.  The hospital and staff are committed to providing current, up-to-date training for residents in both cognitive and procedural domain.  Residents will receive progressive primary responsibility for patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings within the context of a rural environment.

Resident trainees will also be training in the application of osteopathic principles and practice.  This commitment extends to providing the required financial support for resources needed for a successful and viable residency program in internal medicine.

Verde Valley Medical Center is the only facility in the Verde Valley offering a full-service cardiology program that includes on-site angioplasty and stent placement, interventional cardiologists, non-emergency cardiac care, cardiology diagnostic studies and procedures, and a cardiac rehabilitation program.  The cardiac rehabilitation program provides patients the opportunity to participate in monitored health and fitness sessions.
